Ahh the joys of visiting Queensland.
One of my favourite things is staying in traditional Queenslander Hotels.However, whilst the hospitality is great, the pubs unique, they are not sound proof and hence can be rather noisy.
The Railway Hotel at Gympie overlooks the railway station, and I had a room that opened out onto the railway. AND I had a window to let the breeze through.

For such a simple pub, the food here was pretty good. Buffet Breakfast, Reasonable dinner menu

This would have been the place to stay in the hey day of the railway. Trains all hours of the day and night, and a pub made of paper thin wood
