Not long before the tour, the railway had held a ceremony to mark the re-opening of the railway.
A deal with the tourist operators cemented a business case for the re-introduction of services. The section of track between Bennet and Carcross runs literally on the edge of Lake Bennet, and crosses over the eastern end of the lake, over an old swing bridge into Carcross Depot.
The town still has a number of shops, and many residents. It also has the remains of one of the other paddle steamers.
